Counselling/ Psychotherapy Hypnotherapy CBT
Counselling allows people to discuss any problems and difficult feelings they may have in a secure and confidential environment. It is a therapy that clients may look to when they want to change something in their lives, or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more detail.
A counsellor is not there to tell you what to do. Instead, they encourage you to talk about what’s bothering you and to uncover any root causes and identify your specific ways of thinking. You may then work on a plan of action to help you find ways of coping or resolving your issues.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
My name is Vanessa Wallace and I am a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and Coach. For over 20 years now I have worked with people to enhance their well-being and support them to eliminate negative thoughts and emotions to live a more fulfilling and stress-free life.
I, myself suffered with crippling anxiety and depression for many years. I had self harming behaviours such as addictions and being incredibly hard on myself resulting in low self-esteem and leaving me unable to achieve any of the dreams I had.
Having worked through these difficulties using the skills and techniques I have learnt as well as working with many different people in institutions and the community, I am now able to offer my clients life changing approaches and proven techniques to tackle a range of psychological problems.
I work with:
- Relationship problems
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Eating disorders
- Self Harm
I am also able to provide supervision for counsellors and coaches.
This is much more in depth, longer term work but provides the opportunity for total life transformation as together the client and the therapist work to heal trauma and the effects of painful histories.
This form of therapy has successfully been used to rid people of harmful habits like smoking or the paralysing effects of phobias. While not an exhaustive list, it can help with: Weight management and eating disorders, Phobias e.g. fear of flying, fear of dentist, stopping smoking, Public speaking, exam or driving test nerves. For some people, a single hypnotherapy session is enough to make positive changes in their life. For others, a number of therapeutic sessions may be necessary to understand how past events have shaped their thinking and to learn how they could change their perspective.
